Weekly Learning Journal
To do this effectively you must first consider all the material you have studied – the readings, the online learning & our class discussions. It is helpful to start by inventorying these items because there is a considerable amount of work to evaluate. Each week’s work is designed to builds upon the prior week’s work in order to enhance your ability to integrate your learning. Then you must decide what you learned from this body of work and discussion. Neither of these efforts are trivial tasks. It requires thoughtful evaluation to prioritize what you will write about since your post must APPLY, ANALYZE & INTEGRATE your learning. You need to reflect a comprehensive view. You do not want to laundry list your learning. Each Learning Journal submission must show your mastery of the subject beyond a straight essay analysis. It must also show that you know you are applying specific lessons learned from specific material. In other words, high-level discussions about managing in a global economy are not enough.
The Journal should NOT be:
your class notes with analysis
a string site of learnings
a generic discussion on Managing In A Global Economy
an application of a single learning
a recitation of your team project
a ‘dear diary’ entry
Your Learning Journal should be a creative growth experience for your global thinking. Challenge yourself to maximize that experience on each level – application, analysis, integration. Our materials are rich & bountiful. Our sessions are restlessly intense. Use these ingredients to stretch your thinking! The world needs your best managing in a global economy thinking. The Learning Journal can develop that thinking. Use it!
