This assignment requires you to conduct an interview, then complete an interview transcriiption and write a newsworthy Q&A. This will allow you to identify a person you are interested in learning more about.
In-depth interviewing and well-developed note taking skills are essential to good reporting. Choose an expert on campus for whom you can identify a newsworthy angle about which you could interview this person and write an engaging, newsworthy story. The story should be something that could run in The Niner Times and that would interest a campus readership.
At least 8 questions must be included in the story.
The format of the news story is a Q&A. A news Q&A opens with a lead and several paragraphs that outline basic, engaging, well-written information about the person to set up the interview, and then your (edited and refined) Q&A session comprises the body of the story.
