ADDITIONAL NOTES:If your issue is:
You have a message saying “data collection isn’t active for your website..”
Solution:
To solve my issue for the footer, I had to install the google tag manually. This was not explicitly the Google site tag but a Google tag that had the same format and purpose found under Data Streams. To get the Google tag to connect, I added it to the SEO Settings in my Weebly page like Dr. Jarrett instructed but also added it to the SEO settings for the home page. The directions for this is: click Pages>Home>SEO settings. I then inserted the google tag in the footer code box.
Once I did that, I was able to successfully verify my header code. I also put this header code in the SEO settings for the home page and in the main SEO settings.
Footer code issue solution:
What I did was “Try a URL prefix property instead”. I then entered the whole URL for my site instead of the domain and it gave me a header that included the code ““. I then published that link onto my header code, saved it, and published my site and it was able to verify.
