Assignment instructions:
For this assignment you will be using Candid Careers to look at different professions that required a degree in criminal justice. Candid Careers is a resource provided by the University of South Carolinas Career Center. In order to get full credit for this assignment you will need to choose two professions that require a degree in criminology and/or criminal justice at any level (B.A., Masters, or Doctorate), listen to the four- to five-part interview of a person working that job, and answer the questions below.
In order to get to where you have access to these interviews you must follow these steps.
- Go to sc.edu
- Search Candid Career
- Click the first link that comes up
- Career Center Tools – Career Center | University of South Carolina
- Scroll down and click Candid Career
- These first four steps will take you to the website where you are automatically logged in through the University. If you skip these steps you will not be successfully logged into Candid Career.**
- Near the top of the page click Video Library
- In the grey box you will see a drop down menu that says all majors. You will need to start typing CRI into that box and select multiple options (one at a time Criminology; Criminal Justice; etc. ) to see all the different jobs related to criminal justice. Other options are Law related jobs. You will need to search around as there are only a few options given for each menu option.
**If this doesnt work for you, try the following things:
- Use a different browser. Safari isnt the best try Chrome, Firefox, and/or Explorer
- Go somewhere where you can be logged into USCs eduroam WiFi
- Use a computer at the library
Once you select a job that sounds interesting to you, begin to watch their interview. You will see that the interview is broken up into four or five parts that do not automatically play on their own so once each part is done you will need to click on the next one to make it play. The four/five parts are: Job Description, Loves and Challenges, How to Prepare, Interviewees Story, and sometimes also Final Advice. These parts are usually not longer than 3 minutes each.
