Students will write a 2-3 page reflection over the text, Deep Work by Cal Newport. The reflection should be double-spaced. Students should reflect upon the suggestions from Newport and discuss what principles from the book the student would like to incorporate into their lives during their time as a PhD student. What aspects of the book were challenging? What aspects were doable? How helpful is this text in preparing you for the depth of study necessary for the PhD?
