Students are required to write a brief review of literature on a research topic related to Sport
Management, Sport Politics or International Development.
Structure
For guidance only, it is suggested that your review of literature could be structured as follows:
Introduction (about 200 words)
Provide some background context about the research topic that is being investigated
and explain why it is worth investigating. Close with a broad aim which highlights
what the review of literature hopes to find out.
Review of literature (about 1200 words)
This is the main body of work for the assignment. A good literature review is likely
to include between 20 and 40 published articles (although more is not necessarily
better). This section will normally be split into 2, 3 or 4 sub sections reflecting the
different issues in the literature that is being reviewed.
Conclusion (about 100 words)
In this final section, provide a summary of what we know about your research topic
and, if possible, state the clear gaps in knowledge that have been revealed.
