Dollar Store Sculpture Project Submission
Please submit your project on this page.
For this initial creative project, you are required to visit a Dollar Store (or an equivalent retail business) and purchase items to make your sculpture (for a maximum sum of five dollars). Take a picture of the raw materials which will serve as the “before” photo of the sculpture. The next step is to create a three-dimensional sculpture using only the raw materials and any adhesives you choose such as glue, string, staples, etc… When you finish, take another photo and paste both the before and after images into a word doc or PDF for final submission.
Here is a checklist and some additional requirements:
“Before pic”
Take a picture of the items you will use to make the sculpture
Remember!
You are striving to transform the objects into a three-dimensional sculpture; be creative!
Your sculpture should function as one complete work (connected using some kind of adhesive), not a simple arrangement of the chosen items.
Include at least one clear picture of your completed sculpture.
When photographing your work, ensure it is well lit
Set your work against a neutral background that does not detract from the design
You may include multiple angles if helpful
Brief statement
In addition to your images, provide a brief written explanation of your project.
In your statement, discuss at least 2 elements of design important to your work.
Does your work have a title?
