Surrealism is about the dream state or what challenges what we logically know or are familiar with. Television and film have often used Surrealism to visually make points when words will fall short. Salvador Dali stated that animation could be a pivotal medium for the movement in which he truly lived and breathed.

Discussion Questions:
Tell us your interpretation of the film/imagery, including any strong themes you feel are present. Avoid using online sources.
Choose/discuss two scenes that made strong impressions on you that also support your interpretation. Time stamp each scene (at 12:16 when such and such is mentioned). You may wish to also provide screen shots in your thread as well, to further back you up, as failing to time stamp will result in a loss of points.
What do you feel makes these scenes visually effective? In addition, discuss the principles of design and elements of art that are responsible for creating the visual impact provided in the scenes.
Avoid going to Google for answers to the questions. Adding a little info from a source is OK, but I really want to hear your very own thoughts.

Your Discussion experience will come in three parts:
Part 1: Watch Salvador Dali’s Destino and find the two scenes/clips that stand out to you.
Part 2: Write a short essay that answers the above questions in detail. Don’t forget the timestamping, and avoid using online sources as this is supposed to be your own critical thinking.
Part 3: Respond to a minimum of two other student Threads.
Points will be distributed in this manner:
Discussion- 20 points max
Original and relevant content (5 points max) – Displaying you have studied and are knowledgeable of the material by addressing required prompts and writing your own thoughts and feelings regarding the material’s content.
A critical analysis (5 points max) – Exhibiting you have engaged with the material by addressing prompts directly by providing original, insightful observations and thought-provoking commentary- in both your post and classmate responses.
Engaging Responses (5 points max) – Engage in critical analysis of the content present in your classmate’s post. You are expected to provide insightful observations, thought-provoking commentary, or feedback to your classmates. Only responses that engage and encourage critical thinking will receive maximum credit.
Quality of writing (5 points max) – Cleary and concisely articulates ideas and feelings about the material utilizing good sentence fluency (syntax), spelling, and grammar. College-level writing is required.
