Step One – Select a picture of an interior space. These images may be found online, in a book, or magazine.
Step Two – After reading Chapter 3 Design Theory: Aesthetics, Elements and Principles of Design use your knowledge to analyze the image you selected.
Step Three – Look at the selected image and describe which Elements and which Principles you see being used in the design. Objectively analyze the picture.
Step Four – End with a short summary of your overall evaluation of the validity of the design. Did the design meet its intent based on the Elements and Principles that were employed?
Step Five – Please upload a PDF of your assignment.
Notes:
- You may present your critique in bullet or outline format. Start with the Elements then address the Principles. It should be clear which Element or Principle you are describing.
- Use all of the Principles and Elements that you recognize.
- Stay objective with your critique – keep your personal opinions out of your discussion.
- Remember, presentation is important! You must include your image in your assignment. The image must be of good quality , no blurry or pixelated photos. The image should be at least 1/2 page or larger.
- The assignment must be typed!
- Please include a cover sheet with your name, the assignment, class and due date.
