Discussion Topic: Week #4- DQ1: Communicating Negative News EffectivelyWeek #4- DQ1: Communicating Negative News Effectively

Professional musicians do everything they can to keep the show going, particularly for tours that are scheduled months in advance. However, illness, pandemics, natural disasters, and other unforeseeable circumstances can force an act to cancel shows, even after all the tickets have been sold.

Choose one of your favorite musical acts and assume that you are the tour manager who needs to tell 25,000 fans that an upcoming concert must be cancelled because of illness. Ticket holders can apply for a refund at the artists website or keep their tickets for a future concert date, which will be identified and announced as soon as possible.

For this discussion you will be writing tweets as the tour organizer for Twitter. You will write two tweets,:

  • 1 announcing the cancelation and,
  • 1 outlining the options for tickets holders.
  • Make up any information you need, and post your tweets. While Twitter no longer limits you to 280 characters per tweet, how can you fit your message in a Tweet so the user does not have to open it and can just scroll by once they have read it?

In your response posts, make suggestions to your classmates on how they can improve their message. Be constructive and helpful. Assist with grammar and syntax, as well as being concise and succinct. Do you have any helpful comments for anything they might have missed?

Expectations:

  • Your first response should be a minimum of 100 words, due Tuesdays/Thursdays.
  • You should reply to a minimum of 2 other classmates’ responses with 50 words minimum, due Sunday.
  • To earn full credit you need to answer more than “I agree” or “good job.” Your discussion replies may ask a clarifying question, may relate and apply to another situation, or you can probe the question deeper. But it needs to have substance in order for you to earn points.
  • No late postings
  • No AI language generated posts/ChatGPT
