1. Building on the worksheet that was included on Module page 1.8, choose one identity you hold and describe how your identity has been socially constructed. How has your understanding of your identity been influenced by the way you were raised, the cultural values and beliefs of others around you, and representations (or lack thereof) of this identity in media, popular culture, and books? How were you made to feel about holding this identity based on others’ behaviors and beliefs? How has your understanding of this identity evolved over time?
2. The “Culture as Deficit” reading by Park is quite dense. Please share one major point you believe she is making in her article that is important to social work practice, AND one question you have about this reading that would help deepen your understanding of this article.
