-Selections of Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s Emile (1762)
Choose your second text from (you may choose more than one and no more than two)

Through your analysis, you will make a larger argument that responds to the following question:
What do the texts of your choice argue about children, childhood, and education? What do these texts tell us about the culture in which they were produced? How do these textsparticipate in that culture?
Guidelines:
• Closely analyze the texts you choose to develop a larger claim.
• Construct a main argument (thesis) that creates a specific relationship between your chosen works in response to the prompt. (make sure to think about their differences as well as their similarities).
• Read through the resources and links posted on the Blackboard.
• Do not use outside sources. It is your own analysis that’s important for this assignment.
• Page length: 3-4 double-spaced pages (with a standard heading, one-inch margins, 12-point Times New Roman font).
• Cite quotes in MLA format and include a Works Cited page.
• Your submitted essay should be written in clear, polished, error-free, grammatically correct, spell-checked prose.
• Submit your essay on Blackboard. Please do not email it to me.
