The definition essay is a persuasive essay: one that extends a single claim about the word-your informed opinion about the word-and that provides sufficient proof to illuminate and bolster that claim (or thesis statement).
You will use examples from your own research on the term, your own life, and the dictionary. This essay must be between 1 ½-2 pages in length, double-spaced. You will submit an electronic copy of the paper and you will record yourself reading the paper and upload it for the class to see (oral presentation).
