For organizational purposes, be sure to number each post in its title to coincide with the instructions below (i.e. “post #1, post #2, and etc.).
Here are the details:
Post 1: Describe the health organization you have decided to form (Hospice as a health care company.). Do some research and think outside the box. If your unsure if your organization falls within the framework of being healthcare-focused, be sure to confirm the type of organization with your professor first.
Post 2: Read chapter one of the course textbook and use its concepts to discuss why the organization was formed. In general, this post should focus on what current challenges will it help solve, and what opportunities exist for the organization (from an overall healthcare landscape). However, there should be far more detail provided than just answering the above questions.
Post 3: Use this slide to discuss the history of organizations similar to yours. Try to especially focus on the following concepts from chapter 2: how data analytics will be used by your organization, project management, and your organization’s performance improvement philosophies.
Post 4: Heavily dwell on how evidence-based medicine will be used when operating your organization. Feel free to focus on other points from chapter 3.
Post 5: This post will be based around chapter 4. Discuss how your organization will set goals and execute a plan to achieve those goals. The grader will be especially focused on the balanced scorecard approach.
Post 6: By now, students can tell this assignment is making the textbook come alive through a fictional organization. Reading the course textbook is critical to succeed at this assignment. The next chapter in focus is 5. Through this post, students should use that chapter’s concepts to really focus on how their organization will operate. While the group should focus on several key points from the chapter, make sure there is a heavy focus on the skills the project managers will need (and who will they hire), how projects will be selected for the organization to complete. Essentially, what are the organization’s primary functions, and what kind of skillset is needed to run those operations.
Post 7: Use the knowledge learned in chapter 6 to identify the problems your organization may encounter (and how they will be identified) along how decisions will be made to resolve those issues.
Post 8: Chapter 7 is titled “Statistical Thinking and Statistical Problem Solving.” For this post, the group should talk about the type of statistics they want their organization to have access to so they can continue to gauge which direction the organization should be headed. Be sure to be specific as chapter 7 describes many types of statistical analysis tools and their benefits.
Post 9: Write about the type of data mining that will occur to identify trends and improve your organization. This topic is discussed on pages 214-217 in the course textbook.
Post 10: Discuss how the Six Sigma Quality Program could be applied to your organization. The detailed six sigma discussion begins on page 225 in your course textbook.
Post 11: The expectation is for this post to leverage topics discussed in chapter 10 and apply them to the organization in focus. Emphasis should be applied to the types of waste that could occur in the organization and the overlaps of Lean with Six Sigma within the group’s focus organization.
Post 12: The center of healthcare revolves around patients. How does the flow of patients impact this organization? Remember everyone may not be starting a provider office or hospital, but patient flow still impacts all healthcare perspectives. In addition, describe what a process map would look like or make a process map for work coming in and being completed. The uploading of an actual high-level process map is preferred.
Post 13: From the chapter 12 (and a little bit from chapter 11) perspective, it is expected students answer these questions in this post:
How will the organization be prepared to manage a sharp change in growth? For example, will more people need to be hired or will work be contracted out?
What’s the staffing model? For example, will all employees be permanent, or will the company prefer to only hire contract workers?
Talk about how work will be scheduled. For example, are all positions Monday – Friday: 9 – 5 or is there some of other employee scheduling system to make sure work gets done
Post 14: Discuss the key inventory your organization will need to track, manage and forecast. Even if your organization works in an online environment, non-tangible items like server space is still needed. Chapter 13 does a good job covering the overall topic of supply chain management.
Post 15: Expound on how your organization will turn a financial profit.
Post 16: Include details how your organization will hold gains from the following perspective discussed at the start of chapter 15: HR planning, managerial accounting, and control system
Post 17: references
