The purpose of this assignment is to give you the opportunity to explore the innovation process and design thinking models. Design thinking is vital to helping create a process and method of what and how you want to start innovating. It is also important to know how to apply the model to a real life situation.
For this assignment:
1. Identify the design thinking process you would like to present. You will need to do some research on the internet to discover the IDEO design process, Stanford Design process, or others that innovators might decide to use to guide the process.
2. Create a 2 page paper, excluding your title and reference page.
a. Explain the innovation design process you have selected and why. Please review the different design thinking models that you can research online.
b. Identify a situation, past or present, where you could have used the design process and then discuss how the design process works and facilitates innovation that may have made a difference in the outcome. So often in innovation we come up with ideas, a product, or an invention, yet the failure point is implementing. Some innovation methodologies don’t always go far enough in that process to the point of implementation, reassessment of the need and how it brings value, and then executing again.
You may also include a change management process that would facilitate the design process and implementation of the work.
3. Be creative in the process. You may even create a new design process methodology and/or how would you incorporate the 7 Pillars of Innovation from the MHI program into your design process.
4. Cite at least 1 source as a reference for your ideas/design.
5. Please use APA formatting and guidelines.
