Assignment #1: Personas and Scenarios
Persona:
For this assignment, you will get a little bit of practice creating personas to capture the most important aspects of who people are, what they do, and why they do it. I want you to choose 5 of your friends that have a common interest (e.g., a specific game, movie, fandom, activity, hobby, etc.) and create a single persona about them. Do not use any of their names, but come up with a new name and a new image that represent this new persona you have created. Remember, factuality isnt quite as important as believability of the persona (though it should be based on facts). The key in all of this: this persona is not about you. Write one page on this persona similar in design to what was shown in class and in the Lesson 3 module. Include the questions you asked to help create your persona as well as the answers from the five people you interviewed. This persona should focus on an interest that’s shared by all of your friends.
Furthermore, pretend that you are working for a local museum, and they want to create an exhibit based upon your friend group’s personal interest. Use these interests to guide your persona (and scenario) creation.
Scenario:
Once you have written the persona, create a scenario for how your persona would interact with an exhibit’s multimedia element related to your persona’s interest. The details of the exhibit are up to you, but write a 1 page scenario detailing the specifics of the museum’s interactive element and how it would be used by your persona.
So you are turning three things in with this assignment:
