I would like you to complete the essay in two different sections. The first section I wish for you to create is a 1800 word essay on presenting a critical analysis of selected contributions to the academic literature on genocide and mass atrocities.
The information i wish to be included in section 1 is here:
Choose a topic you are interested in exploring and contributing to.
Choose a few academic sources, meaning scholarly articles, reports, chapters or books you wish to examine on the topic of your choice.
Read the sources critically, meaning ‘objectively’ to analyse the research on this topic. Then synthesise your critical reading to highlight potential gap in knowledge/research.
Begin your review with an abstract
Introduce the topic
Present contextual information:
•historical background
•previous studies on the topic/chronological analysis
•mainstream versus alternative viewpoints
•Highlight case study/specific studies etc.
Next, present your methodology by describing your strategy for identifying the pieces, for instance what key concepts you searched for and in what sources? How you went through each piece, what main ideas were identified, how they were categorised, what steps were taken to verify the validity of the ideas, what gaps were found, and what may need to be done to address the gaps from your point of view in a realistic and preferably constructive way.
Share your observations from learnings you have gained. So what did you learn? What do you want to do next to improve on the ideas and findings on your topic? Each observation should deal with a different theme that is relevant to your topic.
Section 2 I wish to be a 2000 word essay on a more analytical essay on a DIFFERENT case study.
The information i wish to be included in section 2 is here:
Title: Choose an interesting title that would make your readers curious about your work
Abstract: An abstract is roughly around 150-200 words long and gives an overview of the piece. It is best to complete this after you have finished your draft . You may wish to include at least 10 # key words.
Outline the human rights case you wish to discuss, by presenting a brief about the background, history, and facts, by writing poignant and short sentences.
Expand on the background, history and facts both describing and analysing your topic. Present your point of view about your findings in a balanced, clear, informative and objective way, as well as those of others who have written about the topic. What is it about? Why is it important?
Use strong evidence to support your arguments: official statistics, trends and patterns, prosecutions, sentences and penalties.
Construct an objective and informed analysis of the topic by referencing research and evidence from academic, governmental and UN bodies.
Always back your analysis with references
Conclusion: Present your conclusions in a cohesive manner and provide details on how you or other actors (institutions, communities, civic society members) could take action to bring about meaningful and lasting change for the better.
I appreciate you working on this essay and I can’t wait to see the results.
