You work for a large company that is hiringa social media director, a position the company has not had before. You knowthat some current employees may be qualified for the new position, so you wantto encourage them to apply because they would already have knowledge about thecompany’s products, services, and culture. However, in the past few years,despite encouraging applications from current employees, new hires have beenexternal candidates, and you know that some employees who applied for thosepositions have a little resentment about not getting hired. A full descriptionof the position, including requirements and salary, is available on many jobboards and the company’s website (www.companyname.com). Applications (rsumand cover letter) must be emailed to humanresources@companyname.com by midnightof the last day of next month. Internal candidates must apply in the same wayan external candidate would, by submitting their cover letter and rsum.
Write a MEMO encouraging internal employeesto apply for the new position. That memo will be distributed to all departmentsand posted publicly for everyone to see. Note, you should not describe theposition in the memo; just refer employees to the complete job descriptionprovided on the company’s website. The purpose of the memo is not to announcethe position (that’s done on the company website) but to encourage currentemployees to apply for the position (and refer them to the job announcement onthe company website for details).  Useall principles of writing studied so far in the course (Six Cs ofCommunication, positive emphasis, “you” approach, message formattingand organization, etc.). The document should use appropriate memo formatting.Remember, the name of an attached file should be descriptive and short!
If you are writing more than 2-3paragraphs, you are writing too much! (Not sure how many words it will take but if it’s more i’ll make sure to pay extra, just make it the closest thing to perfect!)
