Please respond to the following prompt by composing an original post of 200-250 words. Ensure that your post includes proper APA citations for the articles you introduce.
Prompt: Choose three news article published in the previous two weeks from The New York Times, a left leaning national source (besides The New York Times), and a local source that you have not used in previous journal entries. Each article should be covering the topic you chose in your first news journal. Provide a proper citation for each article, that includes the URL, and then compare and contrast them in terms of bias [note: every media message contains a bias, a post that argues there is no bias will not be counted]. In your write up, identify the sources used for the article. Were there other sources that the journalist should have provided or sought out in their reporting? Explain.
Important Reminders:
- Topic Consistency: You are required to maintain the same topic throughout the term. The articles you analyze in your news journals will directly inform your final paper, and no additional sources will be permitted. Therefore, it is crucial that you choose a topic with sufficient coverage and one that genuinely interests you, as you will engage with it over an extended period. If you encounter difficulties finding relevant articles, consider broadening your topic. For instance, if your original topic is “standardized testing” and suitable articles are scarce, expand your focus to encompass “education” more broadly. Similarly, if your topic is centered on a specific, concluded conflict, consider generalizing it to “war.”
- Timeliness of Articles: You are expected to source recent articles for each journal. Articles must be published within two weeks of todays date.
