Purpose
This paper will allow you to identify core values in others as well as articulate your own and reflect on their importance to your life and work choices.
Activity Directions
- Write a reflection on the values of the people featured in the videos. Please address the questions and prompts for each paragraph. The first three paragraph prompts are provided below:
- Paragraph 1: What three values does Simon Sinek seem to hold most closely? Provide evidence for your opinion with quotations or stories he shares during his talk. Are there any values he seems to hold less important? Why do you think that way? Cite the source.
- Paragraph 2: What three values did Steve Jobs seem to hold most closely? Provide evidence for your opinion with quotations or stories he shared during his talk. Are there any values he seemed to hold less important, and what makes you think so? Cite the source.
- Paragraph 3: Select one of the famous failures shown in that video. What would you say their central value is/was? Provide evidence based on what you know about this individual. Cite the source.
- For the final paragraphs, write a reflection on your values. In your reflection, please address the questions and prompts provided below:
- Paragraph 4: Write about how you use your selected three to five values in your decision-making. (The worksheets from the previous activities may help give you some background language to improve the final two paragraphs.)
- Paragraph 5: Write about what kind of work you are attracted to doing in the world that emerges from your chosen values.
Follow the instructions below to submit your work. All written assignments require a heading with your name, date, and course name. Be sure to include in-text citations and a works cited page or references page for all course materials used.
Format: A response that completely addresses the prompts above. A double-spaced Word document with 12-point font.
Details: 500-1000 words. Citations are required when you reference the course material. Format them in APA or MLA style.
