Literature Review – You must find a minimum of two (2) articles or books relevant to workplace design and best practices from a broad perspective. These should be scholarly articles if at all possible (using a library database to find a journal article), high quality books or online sources. You can, of course, have more than 2 articles/sources if you find several that are helpful, but a minimum of 2 of the articles must be scholarly. Subjects you might research include design tools for creating a positive office culture, what is “office culture,” office workplace trends post-Covid, privacy vs openness in an office, sustainability in corporate spaces, branding in the workplace, lighting and technology changes in workplace design, workplace furniture trends post-pandemic, etc. Again, summarize key findings here, don’t copy and paste (plagiarism) an entire article! Pull out the key things that will help YOU ground your design proposal in EVIDENCE-BASED and DOCUMENTED research!
Unlike the case study which is looking at an actual project of similar type/scope or function, the literature review is broader and NOT necessarily project-based. These articles consider the tangential topics and/or issues that may impact your client’s workplace from a more holistic perspective.
