Chapter 1 of How to Study the Bible
1) Provide a summary of the material. To provide an accurate summary the student should read the entire chapter, present the main content of the chapter, present the authors material in a neutral fashion, and condense the material presenting the information in his/her own words. This section should be about 30% of the paper (about 225 words).
2) Present three newly discovered terms or concepts from the chapter and provide an accurate working definition for each term or concept. The student must demonstrate that he/she has a clear understanding of the term or concept and how it relates to the overall process of interpreting the Bible. This section should be about 10% of the paper (75 words)
3) Analysis of the chapter. The student will practice critical analysis as part of the writing response. At the end of each chapter the author provides a Review and a Reflection section. Choose 3 questions from the Review section and 1 question from the Reflection section to complete this final segment of the paper. State the question in the body of the paper and provide a comprehensive answer. This section should be about 60% of the paper (about 450 words)
