Poetry should be willing to ask deep questions about God and explore negative experiences of God as well as positive ones. For example, Isaiah 49:14-18 describes Israel’s feeling of abandonment by God. Good poetry never oversimplifies but invites the reader and author into deeper contemplation. Your poetry should use some type of poetic structuring or device such (but not limited to) as an imitation of Biblical poetry or other styles (Iambic Pentameter, Haiku, rhyme, personification etc.).
