Presentation Two

Informative Presentation

Assignment: You will present an extemporaneous informative speech to the class on a topic of your choosing. Please choose a topic that you like, have knowledge of and is appropriate for the classroom setting. This presentation is an opportunity to increase your audiences knowledge about a particular topic. By doing so, our class will gain a new skill set or learn something new. This speech should follow an Informative Speech Outline. You must include at least 2 vocal citations (According to a December 2009 article in the New England Journal of medicine, obesity is the number one heath epidemic of the 21st century) within your speech. Include at least 3 different types of supporting material (stats, examples, quotes, stories, etc.) in your speech. This speech requires a professional looking college-level visual aid. What does that mean? It means a visual aid that one might find in a college class or the professional world. A good visual aid is well thought out/meaningful, large enough to be easily seen by every person in the room, clearly labeled, simple enough that the viewer can easily figure out the point, and is fully incorporated into the speech – – NOT just tacked on at the end like “Oh and here’s my visual aid. It’s a picture.”

Your presentation grade will be determined based on your verbal skills (volume, pitch, language, speed), nonverbal skills (eye contact, body language, hand & arm gestures), interest/ability to engage the audience, achievement of the speech goal, visual aid and time (staying within the time constraints).
