Quality management is focused on ‘customer care’ – both internal (staff) and external (pts, fam, etc). Nurses often feel that their rights and concerns have less priority to their organization compared to pts/fam. In class some people shared experiences with quality management. Now describe/reflect on a situation where you felt the nurses/staff needs were managed with high quality (as important as patients). If you believe you have never been in this situation, describe a bad situation and how YOU if you were the leader you could have used nursing leadership skills to manage the situation differently. 100-125 words
A descriiption of the Patterns of Knowing in relation to leaders & managers is in the reading this week. Reflect on a nurse leader or manager you work with, or worked in the past, who possessed the 5 patterns. Identify the 5 patterns in your reflection. If you feel you have never had a formal leader with all the patterns, reflect on a peer, or yourself, showing these patterns when functioning in a leadership role (charge nurse, committee chair, etc.) 100-125 words
