  • No late papers will be accepted. You may hand in your work before the due date.

 
Format

  • 2000 words, double-spaced,
  • Double-sided will be accepted,
  • 11 pt or 12 pt, Times New Roman or Arial,
  • Your Title should reflect the essay content; center on page one; do not underline.
  • Center your name under the title on page one,
  • Place a header, consisting of your name and title of the essay, in the upper left hand corner of each subsequent page.

 
Organization

  • Opening paragraph should contain your thesis statement, the objective of your work, and a brief explanation of how you will organize the material. The final paragraph should provide a summary of your discussion.

 

  • The intervening narrative, in paragraphs, should state plainly the aspect of your subject you are discussing and provide examples from the text (s). Cite passages by work, book, lines or sections. Citations may be imbedded in the text, put into footnotes, or placed at the end.

 

  • Select passages from the text (s) and analyze the text, using this as a basis for the discussion of your topic.

Do not use direct quotations, but summarize the text and provide the citation in the manner we will discuss in class.
 

  • You are not required to use any sources other than your primary source, the texts listed in the syllabus. This will include the introductions in your books, which provide much food for thought and reliable background information. If you wish to use secondary sources, I will suggest further readings suitable for your topic and show you how to use Google correctly.
