Students with mild disabilities often need support and specialized instruction to improve memory, attention, and self-regulation of learning. Special Education teachers can explicitly teach strategies to students for improved cognitive and meta-cognitive processing. Teaching Cognitive and Meta-cognitive Strategies
Students with mild disabilities often need support and specialized instruction to improve memory, attention, and self-regulation of learning. Special Education teachers can explicitly teach strategies to students for improved cognitive and metacognitive processing. Teaching these strategies using explicit and direct instructions can improve understanding of content by improving cognitive processes such as problem-solving attention, organization, and self-monitoring. 
Assignment instructions:Think about how strategy instruction supports learners with cognitive processing problems such as SLD, ADHD, and IDD. Consider an academic skill you may teach or intend to teach and choose a strategy that could support that content (writing, reading, math, problem-solving, attention, organization strategies, etc.).
