Submit a draft of a poem you generated this week. The intention is not to have a perfect piece but to motivate you to create new work. Here are some writing prompts. Choose one that sounds interesting.
- Inspired by “Marriage as a Skateboard Flung Off a Bridge,” write a poem wherein you use a simile to explain two different ideas. Lean into specific details.
- Inspired by “Marriage as a Skateboard Flung Off a Bridge,” write a poem where the title is actually the first line of the poem.
- Inspired by the craft talk on imagery, select a topic (a person, place, thing, or idea), and use the five senses to describe that topic.
- Do the writing exercise offered in the weekly craft talk.
Please also include 1-2 questions you’d like your instructor to respond to. This is a great place to ask questions like:
-
- “I was stuck on ____. How might I do _____?” OR
- “I was trying to do _____ and wondered if you have advice on how to _____?” OR
- “I attempted to use some literary devices in this piece. What literary devices did you notice in my poem?”
10 points for on-time submission, 9 points for late submission.
