1. For the low blood lead level group of children, is the average blood lead level
greater than the recent CDC threshold of 10 μg /100ml in 1972 as well as in
1973?
a. State the hypotheses.
b. Plot the distribution of blood lead levels in 1972 and 1973 using
histograms.
c. State your decision rule.
d. Report the test statistic, p-value, mean, and 95% CI for the mean BLL
in 1972 and in 1973.
e. Interpret the results and state your conclusions.
2. Are the average blood lead levels different between children who spent the
first 2 years of life within a mile of the smelter as compared to children who
did not in 1972 as well as in 1973?
