Some Rubric (1)
What was the Arab Spring? What triggered it? Where did it take place? Who were the main
actors? Who were the main winners and losers? What have the Arab Spring’s implications
been for international peace and security in the Middle East? Did the Arab Spring democratize
the Middle East or reinforce the dictatorial status quo?
In answering these questions, students must reference Libya and at least one other Arab state.
Essays must be seven to eight double-spaced pages in length (excluding bibliography), Times
New Roman 12.
Each essay must cite a minimum of five unique sources in addition to The Return and conform
to the Modern Language Association Formatting and Style
Guide, https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/ .
Essays that fall below the seven page minimum will be docked ten points for each half page
that falls short.
