This discussion board is a chance for you to reflect on what you learned about W.E.B. Du Bois, his contributions to sociology and his theoretical perspective. This was in the assigned readings, Introduction Chapter of A Sociology Experiment, and in the Videos about Theoretical Perspectives, Part 2.

Question:What resonated with you when reading and watching the video about Du Bois’ analysis of race and capitalism? What connections do you see between Du Bois’s analysis and our society today? In your answer, please be sure to reference details from the class material — specifically, from the Introduction chapter of A Sociology Experiment and/or the Videos about Theoretical Perspectives, Part 2, both of which are linked above.

Respond to 2 classmates by doing the following:
Respond to classmates that do not already have a lot of responses
Answer the following in your response: Do you see any connections between your classmate’s answer and Du Bois’s concept of the psychological wages of whiteness? Remember that this concept was described in both the assigned Introduction chapter and in Videos about Theoretical Perspectives Part 2 (which are linked above). If you do see a connection, how so? If you do not, why not? In your answer, be sure to incorporate specifics from your classmate’s answer and details from the assigned Introduction chapter and/or Videos about Theoretical Perspectives, Part 2.
