This final assignment is the culmination of everything we have been writing about and discussing during our Unit 1 study of the show Primal.
For this assignment, you will write a semiotic analysis of a specific aspect of Primal (go back and review the PowerPoint: remember connotation and denotation, etc.). You will be required to summarize general information for your audience (what is the show, on what channel is it shown, what other shows are like it, what makes this one different?), analyze a specific symbol, and explain how that relates to other episodes we watched. Be careful, I don’t want you to write about a general theme (like survival of the fittest for example) but a theme may certainly be used in explaining your analysis of your symbol (like a symbol that appears in the power dynamics between different sex characters).
When trying to think about what to analyze, try thinking about something concrete (music, color, animals, animation, etc.). You can also go back and review the class material on ideologies to help you. Some outside research would help here.
Lastly, please use at least two outside sources in your analysis (but more would be welcome). These can comprise of reviews, what you find online (like YouTube), articles, etc. All outside sources must be cited according to MLA/APA style
