Spend 15-20 minutes brainstorming attributes that you would like to see in candidates that you would hire. Attributes are character qualities (things that people are …). He is humble; she is conscientious; he is tall; she is hard-working; etc. Type them in a document as fast as you can. Do not dismiss any. You should have a significant list.
Group and categorize your list. Rearrange the list so that like items are grouped together and then name the groups. This may seem difficult at first but will become easier as you work through it.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 with skills. Skills are things that you are good at. He is a good communicator; she is a good trumpet player; he is good at shaking hands; she is good at building teams; etc.
Study the 2 lists that you have grouped and categorized and choose the 3 attributes and the 3 skills that you value the most in someone whom you are looking to hire and write why you chose them. Looking for a well-developed explanation for each. (No more than 2 pages)
