This module discusses how demographics (e.g. social class, race/ethnicity, sexuality, parent’s age, marital status, parental educational level, family organization) play a critical role in children’s outcomes. Identify a particular issue that you would like to further explore. How do demographic factors and social constructions associated with this issue impact children’s life opportunities? Do social institutions support families facing the particular issue that you are examining or do they create inequalities for these children and families? Do these demographics and corresponding social constructions perpetuate a child’s class status? Explore this issue by integrating information from a minimum of two academic or government sources as well as the text and content guides to support your thesis.
