Think about your hometown or where you live now. Take a moment to jot down some notes about the police in the community you are thinking about.
What type of an organization are they (e.g. large, small, types of leadership)?
What are their activities?
Have they experienced any challenges (e.g. scandals, unresolved crime problems)?
Who/what controls the activities of the police? To whom are they dependent for resources or legitimacy?
Bureaucracy
Does more bureaucracy lead to a particular model of criminal justice processing…is the development of bureaucracy associated with Due Process or Crime Control models? Please give examples of how/why you chose a model.
