Type: Research Plan.
Subject: Family.
Topic: Perspectives on Parent-Child Relationships.
Students complete a research paper as the final assignment in the course. The paper will serve
as a vehicle for a focused analysis of an issue in parent-child relations across the life course.
Students will select their own issue of interest. Students will explore the issue in depth using scholarly research (peer-reviewed journal articles) only as the foundation of their written reflection and critique.
The Research Paper Plan, is intended to support
students in organizing and developing the final research paper.
The Research Paper Plan will include:
(1) A description of the thesis—a centrally clear and concise topic, argument, or purpose of the
paper;
(2) An annotated bibliography (includes descriptions of the purpose of the research described
in each chosen article, the methods, and the findings) of 6-8 scholarly resources that will
support the paper’s thesis; and,
(3) An outline or overview of the paper’s anticipated content/layout.
Please read the instructions carefully, this research plan is very important for the actual research paper.
