Purpose
This assignment uses the project schedule created in Unit 4 to create the project budget. Once the project budget is complete, the triple constraints of time, scope, and cost are determined. Part 2 of the assignment will focus on creating the communication matrix for the project.
Assignment Instructions
There will be two parts to this assignment.
Part 1:
In Part 1 of the assignment, you will use the project WBS and schedule for your chosen project and create cost estimates for the work packages. Review each work activity and determine the labor, equipment, fees, or other cost requirements. Labor costs can be a flat fee or an hourly rate. It is possible to have labor, equipment, fees, or other cost requirements for each activity or no costs depending on the activity. Use the attached template to identify costs, then summarize by work package and total for the project.
Part 2:
The project communication plan outlines the who, where, what, when, why, and how of project communications. Project managers need to manage the information created by the project and disseminate it to the project’s primary stakeholders. Communication is critical to managing project expectations and the teamwork of the project team. For your chosen project, create a project communication matrix using the attached template identifying four information sources (what), stakeholders that need the information (who), when the information should be communicated (when), the purpose of the communication (why), and the mode of communication (how).
Assignment Requirements
Hand in the project budget in either MS Project format or using the MS Excel template. Please hand in the communication matrix as an MS Word document. Both documents should be submitted in the assignment dropbox.
