Watch film and read the scriipt of film “Parasites” which I’ve attached. The focus is to apply the concepts from General Lecture and course readings to gain a better understanding of story elements within these films (use a book I’ve attached, you can use chapters 1-8). Justify your answers with thorough explanations that defend your points. Concepts form lectures: main character (character with the biggest desire), pacing of the scenes, paralel action, breaking down film/scriipt into acts, have smaller desires packed into bigger desires, going from desire to desire, main character of a story not a character of a scene.
Writing task:
Choose any scene in the film and analyze the characters and conflict within that specific scene.
Make your answers specific, tangible and explain why.
— MAIN CHARACTER?
{S/he who has the strongest DESIRE}
— STATUS QUO OF MAIN CHARACTER?
{Before the tension is introduced}
— STAKES IN RELATION TO MAIN CHARACTER?
{What if s/he doesn’t fulfill his/her desire?}
— CONFLICT?
{What does the writer intend for the audience to HOPE & FEAR?}
— DESIRES OF EVERY CHARACTER IN SCENE?
— DOES THE SCENE HAVE A TWIST?
{If so, what techniques are used to justify and/or motivate this diversion
from the expected?}
Demonstrate me that you’ve watched film and read the scriipt.
