MAIN DETAILS: The final for this course is a paper that answers the question of how you can foster justice. This semester we cover criminal justice, reproductive justice, housing justice, etc. Which one resonates with you the most? You can think of yourself in the present or, you can think about your goals for the future. The assignment is to write a minimum 4-page paper that not only tells me how you can affect change, but also uses resources (from class and found on your own) to support why your thing is needed, what makes it a good idea? What support can you give us that shows the benefit of what you are planning?
Example of topic: I want to focus on criminal justice, especially keeping kids from encountering the justice system. To do that, I’m going to start a community music center. Resource A says that engagement in the arts is good for kids. Resource B says that kids who are busy doing good things won’t have time to get into trouble doing bad things…. So, then I would formulate my paper with more resources, some examples of what my music center might have/do (band Fall 24, Async Online pg. 2 instruments, mentors, teachers, etc.). This is your opportunity to pretend you have all you need to make social justice happen — how would you do it?
