Written Museum Essay: Prehistory through Gothic
You will be visiting a museum virtually. Use an academic/scholarly museum from the western world and stay within our time period for this assignment. You are not bound to your local museums but can go globally.
Before you begin the project, think about what time period you are interested in. This will help automatically narrow down your search. Some museums have specialties and are well known for specific collections. (D’Orsay Museum in Paris has an excellent Impressionist Collection, though this is not in our time period, I am using it as an example). The British Museum is famous for their Egyptian Collection. Keep in mind, museums often change their visiting exhibitions or special exhibitions to focus on certain topics and draw in a new audience.
