Your essay should explore how one aspect of Rock’s novel is (1) transformed (2) slightly altered (3) enhanced by visual medium (4) or omitted entirely in Granik’s film. Your claim, or thesis statement, should suggest the larger impact this choice in adaptation has in comparison with that of the novel. How does this change the themes or meaning of the narrative? How does it enhance or complicate the meaning of the novel? What effect do the changes have on the audience experience?
