Informational & Award Winning Texts
Instructions: Turn in a genre analysis and summary of each of the informational and award-winning texts listed below. Make sure each entry includes the following:
1. Bibliographic data using APA 7. Include image of book or link to online text.
2. An analysis of the genre characteristics of the text (What makes it that genre? How are you sure?) The more details you use from your book to support your reasoning, the better. Include research that you have found about the topic/person(s)/event. Use the genre handout and LibGuide resources and examples to help you.
3. A summary semantic map filled out that is appropriate for informational or literary summaries.
Ø Informational summary will identify the structure (there are 5 types) therefore the semantic map will correlate with the structure. Include one main idea sentence that includes the text topic and structure.

Informational:
1. Autobiography or Biography
2. Event or topic
3. Literary nonfiction (your choice)
Award Winning Books: Since these books come in a variety of genres and structures, you will need to correctly identify the genre in order to do the correct analysis and to choose the correct summary.
