Current Event presentation

Your final assessment in this course will be a slideshow and presentation due in Week 7. The assignment requires you to examine a current event and the impact this event had on a particular group that you identify with. Review the details here: . These details are also found under Assignments in the left-hand navigation bar with the appropriate submission link. Note that there is a provided list of possible events to choose from. This list is broad and provided just to get you thinking – you will need to choose a specific event to analyze. Begin brainstorming the various events you could examine for this assignment. Find 2-3 that resonate with you personally. Then, pick one as your chosen topic. Do some preliminary research on that event and find 3 possible sources.

For your first post, describe the 2-3 possible events you considered for the assignment, and how/why these events have meaning to a community/group that you belong to. Discuss which event you chose to move forward with as your topic and why. Discuss 3 possible sources you could use for this assignment. Explain how these sources will help you with the presentation.

Your first post should have the following:

  • 2-3 possible events that you considered with a brief explanation of each
  • Why/how these events hold meaning for you/your group
  • Which event you have chosen as your topic and why (why this one over the others?)
  • 3 sources that support a presentation on your chosen event, and why these sources might be useful
  • Any questions you have on the presentation assignment

Responses to classmates should examine their 3 possible events and their chosen topic and discuss options/possibilities they may not have considered.

Posts should be thoughtful and should include terminology and concepts referenced in the text. Your post should be approximately 250 500 words in length. Cite your potential sources in APA format. Respond to at least 2 classmates by the end of the week. These responses should be 100-150 words minimum in length and should add to the conversation. Posts that say nothing other than “Good post” or “I agree” will not earn points.
