The idea of a summary report is to convey important information and insights from (in this
case) a video in a way that the person reading the report learns what you learned from the
presentation without actually having to watch the video themselves. This happens in the
workplace where companies send one person to a workshop or conference and ask for a
summary report so that others on the job can learn what you learned without actually having to
assume the time and expense of going there themselves.
Writing Style: 1-2 pages is a guideline. Quality is more important than quantity. The idea is to
report the key information of the video so the reader can “watch” it without actually having to
watch it. Like you are a witness at an event, describing the event as an objective observer
reporting the facts. You can make observations about what you see as long as they are based
on what occurs in the video.
The writing style should present the material in terms of how it was presented in the video (‘the
video presented…’, ‘so-and-so said that…’, ‘key points of the presentation were…’). In other
words, you don’t want the reader to think that the information is coming from you, but rather,

Functional requirements focus on the capabilities of the system; performance requirements address the characteristics of the system and include a quantitative measure. Keep in mind your probably do not have subject matter expertise in the system domain that you chose, and so the performance requirements can be stated with TBD values or estimated ranges. These functions should be defined no further than needed to describe the system and what the system needs to do (at the system level).
Relate these functional and performance requirements to the MOEs and MOPs.
Now that you have all the pieces of the body of the paper, write an introduction, add the body of the paper, and then convince the customer to allow you to continue to the next step of the project by including a summary that leverages all of the above and provides a justification for continuing on the path to the development of a new system to meet the need. The paper should demonstrate understanding of the systems engineering life cycle and technical processes.
The body of the paper should be about 4-6 pages (not counting graphics and tables, title page, and reference list).
Make sure to add a title page to your paper that makes it clear what system you are researching (not the need statement or problem area). Include your references (on another page). Post your final paper as a Word document to the Assignment area by the deadline.
