DON’T USE AI AT ALL
- An introduction paragraph, introducing me to the world of That Distant Fire, and the SPECIFIC Settings and characters you will be discussing in relationship to your thesis. Remember that we never want to be broad in our writing, but always specific. As you formulate your specific argument about the relationship between these three concepts (observation, economics, environment), do your best to ask yourself which characters and which settings would be a good example of the point you are trying to make and include them in your introductory paragraph.
- A thesis statement in the introductory paragraph. After you have introduced the specific characters, settings, and themes you wish to discuss in your introductory paragraph, make sure that you include your specific and arguable thesis statement in your introductory paragraph. Remember that your thesis is a blue print for the rest of your essay. As you write the rest of your essay and continue to expand upon your argument, it will help you to make sure that everything you say connects directly to the initial argument you stated in your thesis.
Your thesis should also be bold and interesting. Please dont be afraid to think out of the box on this one. You Will be rewarded for originality.
- Minimum 3 Traditional quotes. Although this essay is about That Distant Fire, you will not only be discussing this text. You will also be discussing Food, Land, and Us, and Sacred Economics: Introduction. It will help you to divide up your paragraphs by each quote you use. You must use at least one traditional quote with proper citation for for each text we have read thus far. As you select the quotes you are going to use, please remember to refer back to your thesis. Ask yourself how does this specific quote I am selecting, further the point I am trying to make about the relationship between observation, economics, and environment.
- Minimum 3 uses of Vivid Description. Because this essay will center on That Distant Fire as a way to discuss and explore our two other nonfiction texts, you might want to use your vivid description skills to continue to provide context on the Graphic novel, and to tell us how these moments in the graphic novel you will be describing vividly relate to the points made in both Sacred Economics and Food, Land, and us. That being said, you can use your Vivid Description skills on any of the three texts we will be working with for this essay.
–Proper Citation Technique. Please refer to our modules if you are still unclear about how to properly cite a text in your writing. It will also be helpful to remember that you should cite the authors of a text your are using in both direct quotes and vivid description. Please also remember to Introduce both the authors and the text BEFORE you begin citing. It is important that your audience is always on the same page as you about who and what you are talking about.
- Minimum Three Body Paragraphs.
- Conclusion Paragraph. After you have made your point, and given me three pieces of direct evidence and three pieces of vivid description as examples of why your argument is correct, wrap it up. In a short paragraph, remind us of the journey youve taken us on, what we know now that we didnt know before, and an interesting thought to continue our thinking.
- Minimum 1,000 words.
