For Assignment 1, you will write an initial draft of an introduction following the suggestions in the syllabus. The purpose of the introduction is to introduce the context of your area of interest (main topic), then two to three related areas (subtopics). These areas should be supported by one or more selected research resources. Include a references section to support the citations used. Then, you will summarize the points and conclude with a clear thesis that tells the reader what the proposed paper will focus on (scope and sequence). This initial introduction rough draft can be 1-3 paragraphs, but at least ½ page total. It will be expanded for the Week 6 and Week 7 assignments.
Length: ½ to 1 page, not including title and reference page
References: Include a minimum of 2 scholarly sources.
part 2
Part 1: For this part of Assignment 2, you will find five (5) additional research studies to use when developing the annotated outline. Use the Note-Taking Template from Week 4 to determine the relevant research elements and add the new sources to the synthesis matrix determine where they align with the different themes. You do not need to upload these templates, but they will be an essential part of continuing the process of gathering and interpreting sources for future paper(s). You will add the five sources to the references section from Week 4 and include that at the end of the annotated outline.
Part 2: For this part of Assignment 2, you will develop an annotated outline using the themes from Week 4 in a framework of APA style, using Level 1 main headings (and Level 2 subheadings if needed). You are strongly encouraged to use the same note-taking and synthesis procedures you used for the Week 4 assignment, as doing so will inform you of where and when the sources will support the annotated outline. Use the citation format to note where the sources belong, and they can support more than one theme.
Length: 2-4 pages, not including title and reference pages
