Our healthcare facility is hiring a detail-oriented Medical Billing Data Entry Clerk to assist with accurately transferring billing information for inpatient and outpatient healthcare services into the designated billing spreadsheet or system. This is primarily a copy-and-paste data entry project. The client will provide the billing records and source data to the successful freelancer upon hire.
The freelancer will be responsible for accurately transferring the provided information while maintaining data consistency, completeness, confidentiality, and accuracy.

Accurate billing data is essential for healthcare claims processing, insurance reimbursement, financial reporting, and proper maintenance of patient billing records. Our facility requires assistance with transferring existing billing information into the designated system while reducing manual entry errors.
Experience with EMR, EHR, or medical billing software is preferred, although the primary responsibility is accurately copying and entering the information provided by the client.
Scope of Work
The freelancer will be responsible for:
- Copying billing information from client-provided records.
- Pasting information into the appropriate spreadsheet or billing system fields.
- Entering patient demographic information.
- Transferring insurance carrier and policy information.
- Entering billing and diagnosis codes provided by the client.
- Recording treatment and service dates.
- Entering total service charges.
- Recording payment outcomes and claim status.
- Transferring internal claim notes.
- Checking that information is entered into the correct fields.
- Reviewing entries for missing or incorrectly copied information.
- Maintaining consistent formatting throughout the billing records.
- Identifying obvious duplicate records where applicable.
- Reporting missing, unclear, or inconsistent information to the client.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality of all client-provided healthcare and billing information.

- Billing and diagnosis codes must match the client-provided records.
- Missing information should be reported rather than guessed.
