Week 6 – Activity

Question 1:

It seems to be a simple concept. Don’t buy stuff that you can’t afford. But remember, I contend that creating wealth is more about behavior than the numbers. Particularly here in the United States, we love buying stuff – and many enjoy buying stuff on credit!

For this week’s discussion, I want you to discuss why people have a tendency to buy things on credit, particularly depreciating assets. What are your thoughts about credit? If you or someone you know has not established credit, what advice would you have to begin a credit history? Why is having a good credit score important? What harm can a bad credit score do to a person?

Evaluation of posts and responses: Your initial posts and peer responses will be evaluated on the basis of the kind of critical thinking and engagement displayed. The grading rubric evaluates the content based on seven areas:

Content Knowledge & Structure, Critical Thinking, Clarity & Effective Communication, Integration of Knowledge & Articles, Presentation, Writing Mechanics, and Response to Other Students.

Question 2:

Did you know that you can get a free copy of your credit report? Usually, a person is entitled to one free copy per year from each of the three major credit reporting agencies. But, during the COVID pandemic, TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian.

During this week’s assignment you have a choice of completing your choice of one of the following assignments:

1) Go to and retrieve a copy of your credit report. Please review your credit report for any mistakes. You do NOT have to share your credit report with me, but I do want you to discuss whether your report was complete and accurate. Were there any surprises? What are your plans to build credit or make your credit report even stronger?

2) Some of the tools that I utilize to keep a check on my accounts and credit are and

I have used these for some time with no difficulties or issues and have the apps downloaded on my mobile device. I fully understand if you are reluctant to download an app on your device. If however, you are like me and find benefit from these applications, download either or both of these apps to your phone. Once downloaded, just provide a screenshot of the app and upload it to Blackboard. I think you will find these applications useful to notify you of any changes on your credit report.
