Week Four: Discussion 1
Must post first.
- Read each question — there may be more than one.
- Post your responses in the appropriate threads. Students are required to make their initial post by Wednesday at 11:59 p.m. (PST).
- Responses should be at least 1 to 2 paragraphs in length.
- Respond to at least two of your classmates’ postings with EACH question for a total of 2 responses. Responses are due by Saturday at 11:59 p.m. (PST).
- Review your postings to see who has responded to you.
- Be sure to answer ALL QUESTIONS.
Best approach: Just “talk ” to your fellow students. Have a conversation. If you do not count how many times you connect with your fellow students, you will give more than adequate responses. Prompt discussion, not make a simple comment, such as “good work!” There will be no credit for such responses that end rather than foster discussion. Address fellow students with respect and acceptance that there may be a variety of personal views.
Example of a full credit response:
“Hi Jen. I agree with part of what you had to say about what constitutes exigency in this situation. I don’t think the officers had to leave and get a warrant. I see your point but I am concerned about what would happen when the officers leave. I think the law allows them to stay at the house to be sure the occupants do not flee. The officers can try to get a warrant over the phone. If in the process they hear something that sounds suspicious like destroying evidence they should be able to call it an emergency and go through the door! What do you think about that?”
Example of no credit response: “Way to go Jen!”
