You should use exactly five whole sentences that flow into each other to form a whole coherent paragraph rather than bullet points. The paragraph should be intelligible to someone who has not read the text. It should follow the 5 sentence précis, an exercise developed by Roland Coloma:
1 What is the central argument of the text? Include author’s name and a precise verb (e.g. ‘argues that’, ‘suggests that’, ‘claims that’…).
2 How did the author support their thesis? What methods did they use in order to arrive at this argument?
3 What is the context within which the author makes their argument?
4 What is the text’s significance?
5 How is this text relevant to our session/your own research? How is this text related to other writings or arguments you have come across in this course?
The pdf contains articles that need to be read.
